High Performance Digital Noise Reducer

The 10-bit NRS500 is the definitive noise reducer, utilising a number of advanced processing techniques to provide high levels of image enhancement.

The 10-bit NRS500 is the definitive noise reducer providing uncompromising performance. It offers the highest noise reduction capability to date as a result of an advanced picture analysis system working over several fields. Only when the input images have been fully analysed is the appropriate filtering technique selected. When a suspect pixel value is identified a convincing substitute is estimated using interpolation in up to three dimensions.

A variable threshold median filter preserves textures whilst suppressing salt and pepper or impulse noise and drop-outs. Spatial or temporal aperture configurations are selected corresponding to changes in the picture content. Movement and scene or shot changes are taken into account to minimise loss of resolution whilst retaining ability to suppress impulse noise. A unique combination of recursive and semi-transversal filters provide a more uniform level of noise reduction across shot/scene changes.

Sophisticated image enhancement and softening automatically selects the most appropriate aperture depending on original picture. Vertical scratch, dirt and grain concealment filters are primarily for film applications. An integral frame synchronizer ensures stable digital output independent of video source stability. Features:

Kudos NRS50 Noise Reducer

The 8-bit Kudos NRS50 is a powerful noise reducer containing multipurpose digital 3D median, recursive and spatial low pass, including digital decoding, SDI output and TBC/synchronizer functions for all round versatility.

The NRS50 is a full-featured video processor incorporating a powerful 3D-filter noise reducer. It combines a frame based adaptive recursive filter (sophisticated control ensures that it does not introduce noise reduction artifacts when there is movement in the scene). An advanced 3-dimensional median filter operates in a minimum delay and is idea for removing noise caused by satellite "sparklies" and digital bit failures. High frequency noise that is linked to the line or field structure of the image is difficult to deal with as it repeats with the picture structure. Therefore recursive filters will see it as a valid picture content. The Kudos NRS50 has an effective spatial low pass filter, which is designed to deal with this type of noise. A TBC/synchroniser and video processing amplifier provides superior operational flexibility. The Kudos NRS50 has a serial digital component output and this, combined with the three filters, makes an ideal multi-function compression pre-processor and bridge from analogue to digital. NOTE: The unit will not transcode 525-line input signals to 625-line output signals or vice-versa. Features:
